Who We Are

About GEOSOC-UCC

The Geographical Society (GEOSOC-UCC) is a student academic association at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) that brings together students who study Geography and related fields in the Department of Geography and Regional Planning.

Our History

GEOSOC-UCC was founded by students and faculty of the Department of Geography and Regional Planning to give geography students a stronger sense of identity, community, and purpose beyond the lecture hall. Over the years, the society has grown from informal departmental gatherings into a structured, well-organized body with its own executive leadership, committees, anthem, and annual calendar of events — including field trips, orientation programs, and academic seminars that have become cherished traditions for every new cohort of geographers at UCC.

Our Faculty

GEOSOC-UCC is proud to be guided by dedicated faculty and senior members of the Department of Geography and Regional Planning, including our Patron, Dean, Head of Department, and senior lecturers who provide mentorship, academic direction, and institutional support that keep the society grounded and growing year after year.

What Drives Us Forward

At the heart of GEOSOC-UCC is a shared curiosity about the world — its landscapes, people, and the forces that shape both. We are driven by a desire to turn classroom theory into real-world understanding, to build lifelong friendships among geography students, and to produce graduates who are not just knowledgeable, but genuinely equipped to comprehend the earth and its inhabitants.

Anthem

GEOSOC Anthem

Exploring earth beneath the sun
Geographical Society, our pride
